FHSA & CODINGThe U.S. Labor Department estimates there will be 1.4 million job openings for computer-related occupations in this decade. Of the STEM fields, computer science and computer engineering have the highest median earnings for recent college graduates and the sector is rapidly growing. To encourage pursuit of these careers, check out our coding resources on the FHSA Symbaloo page. These include Code.org, Scratch, Made with Code, Modkit Vex, Tynker, and Code Academy. Students at FHSA use Modkit Vex in the PLTW Launch program. Select FHSA elementary classes design coding experiences using Code.org and apps such as Hopscotch and Tynker. This year PLTW 7th and 8th graders will begin to learn the basics of Python and mobile app creation.
